showtime tutorial (photoshop)
first off, i learned by using luminouss's tutorial.

before we start, you're going to have to define these 2 patterns and 1 brush:
pattern 1
pattern 2 (its a transparent circle, press ctrl+a )
brush 1
i have to ask that you have a previous knowledge of photoshop cs2. please dont ask for help. only tell me if you think that i forgot something. ;) good luck!

lets get it on!

so im going to use this picture and this psd
Open your psd, or if you already have it open, get your magic wand tool. put your settings to anti alias and sample all layers. then set your settings like this. after you did that, click and hold ctrl+shift+i(or right click and pick select inverse) then ctrl+c and ctrl+v which should make your layers look like this. then go layer>layer style>stroke and set your settings to this then press okay.
now on your layers palette, click on the background/bottom layer, then select your 'make a new raster layer' button, this button. click on the top layer and right click>merge down. then on that same layer go layer>layer style>stroke and set your settings to this. repeat the previous step. click on the background/bottom layer and create a new raster layer. then select your top layer, right click>merge down. once you've done that, do layer>layer style>stroke and set your settings to this and your drop shadow settings to this.
click once on the background/bottom layer and get out your polygon lasso tool. make a border around the model about 5-15 px away from them. that way you have a border that looks like this. now click on your background layer and make a new raster layer. *make sure the border is still there* then take your gradient tool and put it through your border so it looks like this. in the same layer, pick whatever brushes you'd like and fill the gradient area. mine looks like this. now, still on that same layer, go layer>layer style>stroke and make your settings like this. *when the gradient park goes white, dont worry about it, it will come back* then. just like earlier, click the background/bottom layer and create a new raster layer. then go to our gradient layer and right click>merge down. now on that layer do layer>layer style>stroke and get your settings like mine then press okay. repeat the previous step. click on background layer>make new raster layer, gradiented layer>merge down. then layer>layer style>stroke and this is what your settings should look like and then your drop shadow settings like this. press okay and then deselect your border.
click once on the background/bottom layer and take one of your theme colors and fill the background with that color like this. make a new raster layer and get your vector brush out. pick another theme color and on the new layer put the sunvector.here. now take your magic wand tool, make your settings anti alias and sample all layers and select your sunvector so you've got this. get a 15-25px circle brush and with another color of your theme paint in one vector leaving two in between for a 4 color theme and 1 in between for a 3 color theme, then you should have this. then if you have another theme color, do the same thing for your last color.
after you've done that, select your magic wand tool, right click on your picture>layer via copy. then on the new layer you just made, go layer>layer style>stroke make your settings this so, your pattern overlay settings like this and your drop shadow settings like so then press okay. now click back on your layer with the original vector on it, just once and set your magic wand settings to anti alias and contiguous and select every two vector that you didn't just edit.(the ones without the dots)so i looks like this. and fill it with any color/any brush you want to.then do that for the rest of the vectors then your left with that or your version of it.
then on your layers palette right click>flatten image , add text and your done!
heres mine final product! <-- made for my loveee, kara at crippled.
